Our Story
Lady Madeleine launched in December 2019, bringing a new twist on these classic french Madeleine cakes. As well as producing unique flavours and ideas, we also produce bespoke patisserie and cakes for our customers. Offering a taste of home for the Asian market in the UK or anyone who wants an alternative to British baking, our cakes make the perfect gift for any occasion or even if you just want to treat yourself.
We now do postal deliveries for our madeleines and chiffon sponges all over the UK, Elisha is constantly working hard to develop new ideas and helping you to make those special occasions even more memorable.
About Me
Growing up in Hong Kong and working in Disneyland, Elisha always dreamed of being a pastry chef and owning her own bakery. After years of practice baking for friends and family and a year living in Australia, she had enough saved to study at the premier pastry institute in London, Le Cordon Bleu.
Elisha moved to Manchester in 2019 from London and began working from her home kitchen. For the first three years, with her adorable daughter as an occasional assistant, Lady Madeleine really took off during the first lockdown when the people of Manchester needed something sweet to brighten their day and Elisha was perfectly placed to step up.
From training at Le Cordon Bleu London to her experience working at Michelin starred restaurants and bakeries all over London including Yauatcha. Dinner by Heston, Mandarin Oriental and Lily Vanilli, Elisha has been building to opening her own business for most of her life.
Now after growing the customer base, Elisha has started to expand the business with the first step being her own shop in May 2023.
Madeleines
There is no definitive origin story to the madeleine but it is generally agreed they first appeared in 17th century France.
The small seashell like cakes are made from a Genoise batter and baked in specially made tins.
This creates a delightful, light almost sponge like cake which is perfect for afternoon tea or as a sweet treat whenever you feel like it.
At Lady Madeleine, we’ve worked hard to create our own unique recipe (after much trialling and way too much tasting) and are constantly working to improve it with new ideas and flavours

We now create and bake a range of chiffon sponge, cheesecake, buttercream and fresh cream cakes
These are all made to our design and recipe but with the buttercream we can do something special and include your own ideas
